Refactoring: I Wrote this Code?

Nick Capito

Oh hey! This Dev Talk has already happened. You can catch a video of the talk on YouTube.

ABSTRACT:

What do both great and bad developers have in common? They write bad code and produce bugs. I’ve never met a developer that hasn’t looked back at their OWN code and said “I wrote this? What the heck was I thinking.” The only way to improve your craft is to be willing to learn from your code, and when given the opportunity clean it up and make it right. I plan on sharing with you some guidelines to help guide you through large scale refactoring efforts and share some of the habits & best practices I’ve developed over the years. This talk is for anyone working with code that they need to maintain or change, which is probably everyone. Code samples and debugging techniques will be in C#, Typescript, or Javascript, but the tips & habits will apply to other languages as well.

TIME:

Tuesday, March 13th, 2018, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (talks at noon, every second Tuesday of the month)
